At the end of each month, the students switch table spots and partners. This way, by the end of the year, students will have had the opportunity to work closely with 10 of their peers. At the end of each month, we take a moment to reflect on the month of working together and each student is given the opportunity to share with their partner something that they appreciated about working with them.
This is one of our favourite classroom traditions that helps build a strong and respectful learning community. Here are our appreciations from November:

Mya- I appreciated that Abby would be nice to me and cheer me up when I’m sad
Abby- I appreciated Mya because everything that I let her borrow she asked nicely and was grateful
Garrett- I appreciate that Owen is nice and funny
Owen- I liked working with Garrett because he helped me with word work
Ava- I appreciated that Austen listened quietly when I read to him
Austen- I appreciate Ava because she’s a nice friend
Clara- I appreciate Jillian because she makes me laugh and when I didn’t understand what to do, she would help me understand
Jillian- I appreciated Clara because when I needed help spelling words, she helped me
Rou’a- I appreciated Caleb because he would help me understand words
Caleb- I appreciated Rou’a because she made me happy and she made me laugh a lot
Trinity- I appreciate Symone, because at lunch we would just sit together and talk
